Timelapse is a solo dance work that explores the ever-shifting nature of embodied existence.
It began when Yutaka looked out his window and felt a quiet desire to become a cherry tree. From this arose an improvised movement tracing the life of a tree—rising, reaching, blooming, and returning.
As he surrendered to a body slowly transformed by breath, the sense of “I” began to dissolve—shifting, melting, disappearing.
When remembered again, this “I” reappears as if it had always been there, stretching back through time.
Yet it reveals itself to be an illusion—leaving behind an echo in the body, a lingering sense that it may never have been there at all.
The piece invites a quiet encounter with the ongoing processes of bodily and perceptual change, shared intimately with its audience.
