“The idea of beauty that man creates for himself affects his whole attire, ruffles or stiffens his coat, gives curves or straight lines to his gestures and even, in the process of time, subtly penetrates the very features of his face. Man comes in the end to look like his ideal image of himself.” (Charles Baudlelaire, “The Painter of Modern Life”)
“Body within Body” was born during the time of war. Every day for almost a year, we mobilize forces and are recruited by them in our body. Dressing and undressing ourselves in forms and uniforms, struggling to fight, daring to surrender. Personal questions have become national for quite some time.
While we are revealing life among ourselves, we are asking our body to tell us what it knows.
