“’Root’, the short solo piece created by Gil Kerer in collaboration with the dancer Corinna Freiman, is a delightful etude: delicate and radiant like a watercolor painting, an embodiment of basic natural forces, a practice in letting go. It opens with a slowly emerging image, and therein lies the seed of the entire work… Although the choreography performed by Freiman was dictated in advance, her sincere performance is seen as an action that occurs in the moment and is experienced for the first time, which makes this an inescapable achievement” (from Ran Braun’s review in “Haaretz”).
The piece was premiered at the “Between Heaven and Earth Festival” 2022, Jerusalem, and was awarded 3rd place in the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition 2023.
