Through ephemeral forms Ban Ping Shan moves between performance and choreography, installation and dance, letting ghostly movements emerge summoned to the present.
A crossing constantly renewed. Co-written with visual artist Jocelyn Cottencin, I-Fang Lin unfolds part of its history, between France and Taiwan, and re-writes in the present thirty years of career as a performer and choreographer.
Ban Ping Shan suggests blindness and brilliance, appearance and disappearance, stupor and wonder. These flashes of brilliance torn from memory, these moments of pure magic, are none other than the reinvention and reappropriation of figures or stories that are sometimes abstract and sometimes charged with affect.
The stage becomes this landscape where each protagonist (music, light, body) is independent but dialogues through friction and collision. Sublime panoramas are lost in the mists of the stage, a visual afterglow, a sound universe makes the silence vibrate.
